Treating you to the greatest hits and best loved songs from the American rock and roll star

Roy Orbison: Greatest Hits brings you interviews and rare performance footage only recently discovered from a pioneer of rock and rock music.

With memorable life performances spanning from the 1960s to his last television appearance in 1988 and many marvellous performances, the Greatest Hits documentary anthology also includes a rare solo performance of That Lovin’ Feeling, Orbison’s Grammy Award-winning song.

Born in 1936, Roy Orbison was a Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter.

His music career began when, aged 13, Orbison set up his first band, The Wink Westeners. He went on to enjoy a hugely successful career that spanned more than four decades and included hits such as Oh, Pretty Woman, You Got It and Only the Lonely. Known as a somewhat reclusive performer, Orbison was rarely seen on stage without his trademark black sunglasses.

Orbison’s rock ballad songs were unheard of in rock and roll at the time, but his music had a powerful influence on other bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Elton John is said to have referred to Orbison’s work being far ahead of its time.
