Sky Arts Ignition is about working with the arts world. It’s about hearing what you need, to get projects off the ground and delivering the arts in new and innovative ways.
We will partner with six leading arts organisations over the next three years, to invest in the creation of new groundbreaking art works, projects, events and performances. Using Sky’s reach and innovation, we will take them to more people – on the ground, on screen and online.
We want to develop projects in collaboration with you, and work out how we can bring our experience and resource into play to help deliver the projects you’ve always dreamt of. And, we hope, like a proud parent, we’ll be able to watch these projects grow and develop with you and say ‘We were a part of that.’
We are the only broadcaster in the UK and Ireland with channels dedicated to the arts and entertainment, and we’ve been out there, on the ground working with arts partners up and down the country for a long time. We’ve added our unique Sky entertainment angle to enrich the cultural experience for millions of people.
But with Sky Arts Ignition, we can do even more.
What do arts organisations get out of it?
Sky Arts Ignition Series aims to support arts organisations in a number of ways. Here’s what we’ll do:
• Direct cash investment of up to £200k into each project that is chosen
• Coverage on Sky Arts
• Help organisations develop new audiences
• Enhance your project through Sky’s technology such as 3D TV, High Definition and our video-on-demand services
• Offer media support through Sky’s promotional outlets
• Support of existing or potential consumer engagement initiatives (i.e. workshops)
• We’ll ensure arts organisations retain their intellectual property rights
Criteria
We want to partner with leading organisations across the UK and Ireland to support cultural life and ignite projects, events and performances that we are passionate about.
We want to hear from organisations who can meet our five requirements:
1. Arts organisations based in the UK and Ireland who are recognised for their artistic excellence
2. Projects with an innovative or groundbreaking approach to the arts
3. Projects which enable more people to experience and be inspired by the arts
4. Projects which enable Sky to add value and bring them to a wider audience
5. Projects should have the ability to be scaled to achieve national reach and impact across the UK and/or Ireland

Timings
Round 2 of submissions closed on 30 March 2012. Preference will be given to projects that can be delivered in spring 2013 but we will also look at projects taking place throughout the rest of 2013 and 2014.
Our decision-making will be in two stages.
1) The first stage is an assessment of the application itself, identifying those that best meet our guidelines.
Due to the high volume of applications, successful applicants in the first stage will be notified both by phone and email by 1 June 2012. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email only.
2) The second stage will be about assessing the technical feasibility of delivering the project in collaboration with Sky.
Successful applicants to the second stage will be asked to meet with Sky to present their project in person.
Successful applicants to the second stage will be notified by phone and email no later than 13 July 2012. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified via email.
